🌈 German: Colours and Numbers

Hello! Today we will learn the German colours and numbers. An apple, a fish and a frog will help us!

Three things: the apple is rot (red), the fish is blau (blue), the sun is gelb (yellow). Let’s say them together!

Four more: the frog is grün (green), the orange is orange (orange), the flower is rosa (pink), the grapes are lila (purple).

Question time! blau means blue. Which balloon is blue?

Let’s count the apples! eins (one), zwei (two), drei (three), vier (four), fünf (five).

Let’s keep going! sechs (six), sieben (seven), acht (eight), neun (nine), zehn (ten).

Let’s count the frogs: eins, zwei, drei, vier, fünf, sechs, sieben. There are seven frogs. Seven is sieben.

Now a number and a colour together: drei grüne Frösche, zwei blaue Fische, fünf rote Ballons. Just like in English, the colour comes before the noun. But German adds an ending to it: grün becomes grüne Frösche. English never changes its colour words!

A little chant: Eins, zwei, drei: rot, blau, grün. Vier, fünf, sechs: gelb, rosa, lila. A balloon pops up with each word. Say it too!
