😊 Getting to Know Our Feelings

Episode transcript

Hello! I am Pandi. And I am Pengu. Today we are going to get to know our feelings. A feeling is something we notice inside us. Come on, let’s look together!

When something nice happens, we feel happy. Our eyes sparkle and our mouth smiles. When we lose something we love, we feel sad. Our eyebrows droop and our eyes fill with tears.

When something is unfair, we feel angry. Our eyebrows frown. When we get a fright, we feel scared. Our eyes go very wide. When something happens that we did not expect, we feel surprised. Our mouth makes an “oh”.

Feelings show in our body too. Our heart can beat fast. Our face can feel warm. Our tummy can feel as if butterflies are flying inside. These are the ways a feeling tells us it is there.

Pengu was walking along with an ice cream in his hand. Suddenly the ice cream fell on the ground! Pengu’s eyes filled with tears.

Whatever the feeling, every feeling is allowed. Feeling happy, feeling sad, feeling angry: all of it. Our feelings are not bad.

Feeling something is always okay. What matters is what we do with the feeling. When we are angry, we can say: “That made me angry.” But we do not hit, and we do not shout.

When a hard feeling comes, three things can help. First: we breathe in slowly and deeply. Second: we tell a grown-up we trust. Third: we take a little break and rest in a quiet corner.

Brilliant! You know the happy, sad, angry, scared and surprised faces now. Every feeling is allowed. What matters is what we do with it. Now try it in Mood Mirror!
