🌈 French: Colours and Numbers

Episode transcript

Hello! Today we will learn the French colours and numbers. An apple, a fish and a frog will help us!

Here are three things: the apple is rouge (red), the fish is bleu (blue), the sun is jaune (yellow). Let’s say them together!

Four more: the frog is vert (green), the orange is orange (orange), the flower is rose (pink), the grapes are violet (purple).

Question time! bleu means blue. Which balloon is blue?

Let’s count the apples! un (one), deux (two), trois (three), quatre (four), cinq (five).

Let’s keep going! six (six), sept (seven), huit (eight), neuf (nine), dix (ten).

Let’s count the frogs: un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept. There are seven frogs. Seven is sept.

Let’s say the number and the colour together: trois grenouilles vertes, deux poissons bleus, cinq ballons rouges. In French the colour comes after the thing, and if there are many things, the colour changes too: one grenouille, but grenouilles vertes.

A little chant to practise: Un, deux, trois : rouge, bleu, vert. Quatre, cinq, six : jaune, rose, violet. A balloon appears with each word. Sing along!

Summary: rouge, bleu, jaune, vert, orange, rose, violet and un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix. Now try it in Mon Petit Monde!
