Episode finished! 🎉
Episode transcript
Ciao! In this episode we learn colours and numbers in Italian. The Italian for hello is ciao. Come on, look at the balloons!
First, four colours. Red apple: rosso. Blue fish: blu. Yellow banana: giallo. Green frog: verde.
Four more colours. Pink flower: rosa. Orange orange: arancione. Purple grapes: viola. Brown bear: marrone.
Now let’s count! The stars appear one by one. One: uno. Two: due. Three: tre. Four: quattro. Five: cinque.
Let’s carry on: six sei, seven sette, eight otto, nine nove, ten dieci. The stars appear one by one, so count along!
In Italian the colour comes after the thing. In English we say “a red apple”, but Italian says una mela rossa: an apple red. Un pesce blu: a blue fish. Una rana verde: a green frog.
When there is more than one, the word endings change: due mele rosse (two red apples), tre rane verdi (three green frogs). But blu never changes: quattro pesci blu (four blue fish).
Now a rhyme, all together! Rosso, giallo, rosa e blu, viola, arancione, verde: e tu? It means: red, yellow, pink and blue, purple, orange, green: and you? Then let’s count the frogs: Uno, due, tre, tre rane verdi! Say it too!
Well done! You have learned eight colours and the numbers from one to ten: rosso, blu, giallo, verde and uno, due, tre... dieci. Now try it in Il Mio Piccolo Mondo!
