🚦 Crossing the Road Safely
Episode finished! 🎉
Episode transcript
Hello! When we walk down the street, sometimes we need to cross the road. Cars can go fast. So let’s learn together how to cross safely.
The place to cross is a zebra crossing. It has white stripes on the road. There is a blue sign beside it. Cars stop here to let people cross. And we always cross here.
In some places there are lights for people on foot. The little red figure means stop. The little green figure means cross. But even when it is green, we don’t rush out. First we look around.
First, stop. We stand one step back from the edge of the pavement. Our feet stay off the road. Even when cars go past in front of us, we stay right there.
Then look and listen. Look left first, because the cars in the near lane come from the left. Then look right. Then look left again. Listen with your ears too. Can you hear a car?
A car is coming. It slows down and stops before the white stripes. We wait until the car has stopped completely. We also check that the driver has seen us.
Now we can cross. We hold a grown-up’s hand. We walk on the crossing, we don’t run. We don’t look at a phone or a toy. We look at the road.
We never step out into the road from between parked cars. The cars hide us, and a driver coming along can’t see us. We always cross at the zebra crossing.
Let’s say it again. One: stop. Two: look left, right, then left again. Three: listen. Four: hold a grown-up’s hand and walk across the zebra crossing.
Well done! You have learned how to cross the road safely. Stop, look, listen and hold a grown-up’s hand. Now try it in the game Is it Safe?
