🏘️ My Neighbourhood and Jobs

Hello! I’m Pandi. And I’m Pengu. Today we are going to explore our neighbourhood. Let’s see who works there!

This is our neighbourhood. A neighbourhood is a place with homes and shops. There is a bakery. There is a pharmacy. There is a school. There is a park. There is a council office too. People work in all of these places, and each one does a job.

This is the bakery. The baker bakes bread very early in the morning. Warm bread smells lovely. We go to the bakery to buy bread.

This is the pharmacy. The pharmacist gives us medicine and tells us how to use it. When we are ill, we go to the doctor. We take the doctor’s prescription to the pharmacy to get our medicine.

This is our school. Our teacher teaches us new things. This is the park. The cleaner keeps the park clean. And we play in a clean park.

This is the council office. The person who works here helps the neighbourhood. What if our streetlight is not working? We go to the office with a grown-up and tell them. The worker gets the light mended. Our street is bright again.

It is lovely to be a good neighbour. We say good morning to our neighbours. We play quietly when neighbours are resting. If a neighbour’s bag is heavy, we offer to help. Then they say thank you.

We want to cross the road. First we wait at the red light. The cars stop too. Then the green light comes on. We cross at the pedestrian crossing with a grown-up. We remember to look left and right.
