🗺️ The 7 Regions of Turkey

Episode transcript

Hello! Today we hop into the caravan with Pandi and Pengu and tour the seven regions of Turkey. On the map, every region has its own colour. Are you ready?

First, let’s look at the seas. In the north is the Black Sea, in the west the Aegean Sea, and in the south the Mediterranean. In the north-west there is one more small sea: the Sea of Marmara. In the east there is no sea. There are mountains and land instead.

The first stop is the Marmara Region in the north-west. It has very big cities like Istanbul, and bridges, factories and ports. More people live in this region than in any other part of Turkey.

The second stop is the Aegean Region in the west. The summers are hot and dry, and the winters are mild. There are lots of olive trees and fig orchards. Most of Turkey’s olive oil comes from this region.

The third stop is the Mediterranean Region in the south. Because the winters are mild, oranges, lemons and bananas grow here. And there is sea, sand and sunshine too!

The fourth stop is the Central Anatolia Region in the middle of the country. There are wheat fields on the wide plains. The capital, Ankara, is here too. The winters are cold and the summers are hot and dry. There is no coast.

The fifth stop is the Black Sea Region in the north. It rains in every season here, and everything is green. Tea and hazelnuts grow in this region.

The sixth stop is the Eastern Anatolia Region in the east. There are high mountains here. The winters are long, cold and snowy. Sheep and cows graze on the wide highland pastures.

The last stop is the Southeastern Anatolia Region in the south-east. The summers are very hot. Pistachios and cotton grow here. The city of Gaziantep is famous for its baklava.

Summary: Turkey is divided into 7 regions. There is Marmara in the north-west, the Aegean in the west, the Mediterranean in the south, Central Anatolia in the middle, the Black Sea in the north, Eastern Anatolia in the east, and Southeastern Anatolia in the south-east. Now try it in Turkey Tour!
